Big Band Profile


Gary Greene, Esq. and His Big Band of Barristers was founded by its bandleader, Gary Greene, and has become America’s #1 Legal Band. The band made its debut on January 21, 2012 at the Radio & Television News Association’s 62nd Annual Golden Mike Awards. The Barristers perform music from the Golden Era of the big bands at a variety of venues, with gigs at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles to the Art Institute in Chicago. On August 4, 2012, the Barristers took first place in the American Bar Association’s “Battle of the Lawyer Bands” nationwide competition, making it America’s #1 Legal Band. On May 1, 2013, they performed for the official Law Day Ceremonies in the City Council Chambers at Los Angeles City Hall. In 2014, the Barristers together with the Lawyers Phil performed at the Saban Theatre for Beverly Hills’ 100th Anniversary. In 2018, the band flew to Washington, D.C. to perform at the Library of Congress.  The Los Angeles City Council has declared Gary Greene, Esq. and His Big Band of Barristers as “LA’s Only Legal Band.”

The Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic is the umbrella organization for the LA Lawyers Phil, Legal Voices and Gary Greene, Esq. and His Big Band of Barristers. These musical groups are where lawyers, judges, law students and legal staff meet in harmony. The members include conservatory graduates, professional musicians and some hobbyists who are dusting off instruments they played in their youth. Others are harmonizing using their voices that are more commonly heard in courtrooms than on the concert stage. Nevertheless, the music that prevails.  This organization is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
